Holy Family Convent and Infirmary

Assumption College for Sisters

Education Health Care Parish Ministry Social Ministry

Holy Family Convent and Infirmary was originally established in 1899 as a home where the elderly and infirm Sisters could spend their retirement years in prayer and tranquility while being surrounded by their loving Sisters. The present building which was built in 1968 is currently home for 67 Sisters.

At Holy Family the Sisters enjoy extra time for prayer in their beautiful chapel, the convenience of two elevators and specially-equipped electric doors at the main thoroughfares as well as hand rails in our corridors.

They are blessed to have a 24-hour nursing staff and efficient lay employees in the dietary, laundry, housekeeping, activities, and maintenance departments.

The Sisters enjoy relaxing on the two outside porches where they can enjoy the beauty of Mary’s Garden, the fish pond and the rock garden. The Activities Staff provides a countless variety of activities on a daily basis for the Sisters.

Mindful of all who have gone before them, the Sisters pay respect to the 288 pioneer Sisters buried on the hillside cemetery on the convent property. In addition, 358 Sisters have been laid to rest in the parish cemetery of St. Joseph here in Danville.

The Sisters intercede daily with good St. Joseph, whose statue is located on the road above the convent, pray to Mary at the grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes and at the Fatima shrine and make the Way of the Cross at the outdoor Stations. At the entrance to the lovely property, a large statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus welcomes one and all.
