Mendham,
New Jersey is home to the Sisters of Christian Charity of the North
American Eastern Province. In 1927, our magnificent and scenic
112 acres belonged to the Cromwell Estate and was sold to the
Sisters along with the original 44 room mansion, now Villa Pauline
Retreat and Guest house. This lovely facility continues to
provide retreat experiences for countless groups.
The
Quellen Spiritual Center was dedicated in May, 2004 and occupies
parts of the 1st and 4th floors of the
Motherhouse. Quellen offers programs and retreats throughout
the year as well as hosting groups. In addition to the
Center’s Chapel, there are 4 breakout rooms, a comfortable outside
porch and garden, a Retreatants dining room, a gift shop, 32 single
bedrooms, 4 dorms, and access to check email. We welcome
members of all faith traditions!
These
combined retreat facilities are part of the dream of Pauline von
Mallinckrodt, Foundress of the Sisters of Christian Charity, who was
the first to provide retreats for women in Germany in 1874.
