The Sisters of Christian Charity at the 24th General Chapter of July 1 – July 22, 2019 boldly respond to the plight of the migrant in today’s world.
We believe that every life is valuable, and that the development of all peoples is dependent on how we, as individuals, deal with one another with respect and care. This includes the members of my community, my family, the neighbors on my street as well as the migrant seeking a better life fleeing from war, violence, and persecution. These migrants, like ourselves, desire a hope-filled future for their families with the means to support them.
We, therefore, join with Pope Francis to proclaim that the Church’s mission is to all those living in the existential peripheries, who need to be welcomed, protected, promoted, and integrated. [The Congregation] strives with all its strength to serve all people…and…exclusively and directly pursues charitable works that serve the needs of the Church and the common good. (Constitutions, 3)
